Restoring Hope
OUR HEART IS FOR VULNERABLE CHILDREN
When there are 140 million considered orphans worldwide, with over 400,000 of these children living in the United States, we know there’s work to be done.
God promises to “set the lonely in families” (Psalm 68:6) and we’re dedicated to joining this effort.
Restoring Hope, is a new ministry work here at FBC Tom Bean. It is a vision that God has put on my heart for some time, and I hope to see come alive. First and foremost, it is a ministry to foster families, the kids they serve, and hopefully that will branch out into opportunies to impact families that have kids enter into foster care. In essence, it is a opportunity for the church to "run to the mess" and shine the hope and light of Christ.
Phase I : Prayer and Locating Area of Service
As Christians we have intimate knowledge of the greatest Hope there is found in Christ Jesus. My ultimate desire through this ministry is that through the work of faithful followers of Christ we may pierce this dark time in the lives of others with the light of Christ, hince Restoring Hope. Here are some outcomes that I pray for this ministry:
• More and better foster homes
• Sibling groups staying together
• Kids staying closer to home… hopefully even in the same school
• Break the tragic generational cycle that exists in foster care The key component of this ministry is creating Care Communities, a team of people supporting existing foster families. The roles in the team consist of everything from family support (providing meals, clothes, doing laundry, etc.) to getting approved to babysit or provide respite (overnight care).
Every aspect of this ministry needs to be covered in prayer, and I hope that if you are reading this you would begin praying for what God might do through this ministry.
Under the name Restoring Hope, I hope to expand this ministry to where we can counsel young women contemplating abortion, families that are in hard times, and more. We have this amazing treasure in clay jars, the hope found in Christ, and that is at the core of what Restoring Hope Ministry seeks to share with others. It is the very mission and purpose of every Christian.
In His Service,
Kari Bottoms
